About Lise Middleton

My dedication to empower my students and foster an inclusive environment has always been the foundation of my educational philosophy. Using storytelling as a powerful tool to connect with all my students and convey important messages, I created a lasting impact on their lives. My famous saying, “I know that you know, and you know that I know, that you know,” reflects a deep sense of trust and support that I instilled in my students. It’s a testament to the mutual understanding and partnership I established with them, encouraging them to believe in themselves and act as champions for their own aspirations.

The influence of Leo Buscaglia’s philosophy, emphasizing love as a metaphor for inclusivity, resonated with me and became a guiding principle in my educational approach. Choosing to specialize in Inclusive Education further demonstrates my commitment to creating a class environment that embraces diversity and welcomes every student.

Being part of the inaugural class in the new Inclusive Education program at Acadia University showcases my pioneering spirit and enthusiasm for embracing innovative approaches to education. My journey reflects a dedication to staying current with evolving educational philosophies and methodologies.

Encouraging my students to embody Gandhi’s words, “Be the change that you want to see in the world,” illustrates my commitment to instilling a sense of responsibility and agency in my students to lead meaningful lives. It’s evident that I not only imparted knowledge, but also nurtured values that extend beyond the classroom.

The impact I had on my students, as evidenced by their fond memories and continued connection with me, speaks volumes to the profound influence educators can have on shaping lives. This story serves as an inspiring example of the transformative power of passionate and dedicated educators.

Now, as I embark on a new chapter in my life, delving into the world of writing and adventure, I am excited to take my passion to new heights. My decision to write my first  children’s picture book about inclusivity vs exclusivity is a wonderful way to continue promoting the values I have instilled in my students. Documenting my daily experiences in a small traditional village in the Swiss Alps promises to be a captivating journey, while I embark on my second book.

My transition from education to writing is a testament to the idea that learning and growth are lifelong pursuits.
